How to join Stacks - Ascent?
To participate in Stacks Ascent, developers must first meet the Level 0 prerequisites, which include placing in a prior Stacks developer competition, attending an in-person event, having a proven developer track record, or previously receiving a grant. Once eligible, builders can apply through the official program page when applications are open. The program requires KYC for all grant payouts and emphasizes primarily building on Stacks using Clarity smart contracts or core Stacks technology.
Participants progress through 5 distinct tiers, each unlocking increasing grant amounts and perks. Level 1 (Trailblazer) requires validating an idea and making social announcements to unlock a $250 grant. Moving to Level 2 (Wayfinder) involves building a new Clarity contract from scratch with documentation and a video explanation for a $750 grant. Level 3 (Mountaineer) demands a fully functioning frontend, unit tests, a testnet deployment, and securing 5 users to earn $1,000.
In the advanced stages, Level 4 (Alpinist) focuses on implementing user feedback, securing 15 testnet users, recording a demo, and passing a technical review for a $2,000 grant. Finally, Level 5 (Stacks Sherpa) requires builders to onboard at least 25 users, complete an audit-ready checklist, pass a final optimization review, and present a deep dive into their project. Completing this final tier unlocks a $3,000 grant and provides a fast-track opportunity for future accelerator programs.
