Sui is a high-performance Layer-1 blockchain designed for scalable decentralized applications and global adoption. The Sui Overflow 2024 was its flagship global virtual developer hackathon, challenging builders to create innovative dApps using Move and native primitives like zkLogin. Running from April to June 2024, the event attracted tremendous global attention with a verified $1,000,000 prize pool. It ultimately drew 352 project submissions from 79 countries, rewarding the top ecosystem contributors across multiple specialized tracks.
The Sui Overflow 2024 virtual hackathon was a milestone event for developers, concluding with 352 submissions from 79 countries - notably led by builders in India, China, Nigeria, Vietnam, and the USA. After an intense development phase, a dedicated panel of 47 judges evaluated the entries and selected a final shortlist of 65 projects to advance to the demonstration phase.
Participants competed across 8 distinct tracks - including DeFi, Gaming, Advanced Move Features, and Multichain - for a share of the massive $1,000,000 total prize pool. Top performers in each track secured $30,000 for first place, $15,000 for second, and $7,500 for third. Additionally, developers were encouraged to integrate specific ecosystem sponsor tools to unlock stackable bounties.
Beyond the core technological tracks, the hackathon distributed 10 University Awards and 10 Community Favorite Awards, each carrying a $2,500 prize. The community winners were uniquely determined by exactly 29,545 on-chain votes, highlighting strong retail engagement. Review the full list of champions on the official recap.
