Asteroid Shiba (ASTEROID)

Asteroid Shiba is the official mascot of SpaceX, a private American aerospace manufacturer and space transportation company owned by Elon Musk.

It was launched in September 2024, inspired by and in memory of Olivia "Liv" Perrotto. Olivia is the original designer of the Asteroid Shiba coin logo - a 16-year-old fan of Tesla and SpaceX who enjoyed drawing Teslas and building Starship models, all while fighting undifferentiated sarcoma.

In 2024, on behalf of Jared Isaacman, the 15th administrator of NASA, she designed the zero-gravity indicator logo for Polaris Dawn: a Shiba Inu in a spacesuit, named Asteroid. Shortly after the Asteroid Shiba Inu concept was born, @jhaninvest and @peterfeng168 created the $ASTEROID meme, aiming to carry Liv's story and help her fight cancer.

📈 $ASTEROID token price pump: In January 2026, Elon Musk learned about the story of a girl and arranged a phone call, but she was too exhausted to speak. Instead, she wrote him a note with 8 questions, including the question: “Can ASTEROID be SpaceX's official mascot?” 

After a girl passed, her mom posted on X this list of questions, and in one of the X spaces in April 2026, Elon answered “ok” on $ASTEROID crypto to become an official mascot of SpaceX.

Within days after the announcement, the $ASTEROID token grew from a market cap of $20K to over $180M at its peak. After rebounding from that high to ~$35M, the project is now awaiting the upcoming SpaceX IPO as an official company mascot.
