What is DefiLlama?

DefiLlama is the largest TVL aggregator and data-collecting website for decentralized finance applications across over 79 different chain networks. It collects publicly available on-chain information about dApps and repurposes it into an easy-to-read format.

DefiLlama app offers a diverse range of DeFi research tools for crypto investors:

• Yield Explorer: The protocol provides users access to all public information, such as APR, TVL, available LPs, and other data.
• LlamaSwap: A built-in trading tool that assists users in finding the cheapest and fastest swap routes across the Ethereum chain network.
• Token Unlocks: Provides users with access to the biggest upcoming token unlocks.
• Borrow Aggregator: Allows users to explore different lending protocols, providing data such as borrow APY and the chain networks the protocol operates on.
• CEX Monitor: Demonstrates data such as inflows, audits, and the net worth of Centralized exchanges.
• Bridges Explorer: Provides the latest stats and updates regarding the crypto bridges’ volume and number of transactions.
• Governance Proposal Dashboard: Tracks and analyzes voting activities within the DAOs of crypto projects.
• Liquidations: Monitors and displays data about liquidated positions within Decentralized lending protocols.
• Hacks: Tracks and demonstrates the latest hacks and exploits of dApps (decentralized applications).
• ETF Tracker: Shows stats including trading volume, AUM, and flows about the Bitcoin ETF.

The protocol doesn’t charge any fees for utilizing its tools. Instead, it generates revenue solely from paid listings and donations, prioritizing user experience and usability over profit generation. DefiLlama also hasn't hosted any funding rounds and has not officially announced its own DefiLlama coin or a DefiLlama airdrop.

However, there were rumors within the DefiLlama team regarding the intention of one of the founders to release the DefiLlama token. In 2023, 0xLlam4, a co-founder of the project, announced an airdrop. Later, the rest of the team denied plans to release their own token, stating that 0xLlam4 was attempting to issue tokens despite opposition from other developers, causing confusion and controversy within the crypto community.
