MilkyWay is a L1 chain built within the Cosmos ecosystem designed to popularize staking and restaking on Celestia, Initia, and Babylon by introducing liquid staking tokens for those modular ecosystems. It allows users to earn yield from securing the blockchains while keeping in their wallets a liquid version of initially deposited tokens.
$MILK is set to be the native token of the platform yet its utility hasn’t been fully disclosed yet.
Since its inception in 2023, MilkyWay staking protocol has raised over $6M from leading investors like Polychain, Binance Labs, and others while aiming to raise even more via Binance Wallet IDO.

The MilkyWay liquid staking protocol is a Cosmos-based layer-1 blockchain with over $176M in TVL reached, according to its website. It focuses primarily on offering liquid staking and staking solutions for Celestia ($TIA), Initia ($INIT) and Babylon ($BABY) token holders.
Initially, MilkyWay was built as a liquid staking solution for Celestia - at that time one of the most hyped Cosmos ecosystem chains, introducing $milkTIA LST. The $milkTIA is tethered by price to the $TIA token, but growth in value according to the annual projected yield for staking $TIA. This way, MilkyWay Celestia protocol allows users to contribute to the security of the Celestia chain and earn yield while maintaining the full ownership of their funds and even utilize them in DeFi.
However, as the platform grew over time, it emerged to new modular ecosystems and introduced support of Babylon and Initia chains along with $milkBABY or $milkINIT LSTs. At the same time, MilkyWay $TIA staking platform became a restaking layer, allowing Web3 developers to secure their applications with its custom AVS services without the need to release its own set of validators or its own token.
Now, it aims to build a multi-chain or modular ecosystem in a completely unified environment by integrating more ecosystems in the future to its list.
🪙 MilkyWay token: On April 28, 2025 the platform announced soon TGE of its native $MILK token, along with Binance Wallet IDO the next day. As of April 28, the platform didn’t disclose the main utility of the token and the distribution model, but our team is certain that it will be used for governance and securing the MilkyWay network via staking. The post also mentioned the additional $MILK token allocation towards the future marketing campaigns, hinting on MilkyWay airdrop for active Binance Wallet users.
