N1 (formerly Layer N) is a high-performance blockchain originally designed as a Solana scaling protocol focused on matching centralized exchange throughput for DeFi derivatives and high-frequency applications. The network aimed to deliver CEX-grade speed and latency through a novel execution environment while remaining a rollup on Solana.
On 7 November 2022, TheBlock reported that Layer N Solana scaling infrastructure (now N1) is backed by FTX Ventures, Solana Ventures, Solana Foundation, and Solana co-founders Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal. However, the raise amount was disclosed, and the team later confirmed the round was never closed. On top of that, the project has changed direction from Solana scaling to its own L1 blockchain since that time.
