Citrea (CTR)

Citrea is a zk-rollup that leverages Bitcoin blockspace to batch and compress thousands of transactions into zero-knowledge proofs, enabling far greater efficiency than Bitcoin alone. By securing execution directly on Bitcoin, Citrea zk delivers Bitcoin-level security to scalable applications and advanced financial primitives.

Citrea project inherits full Bitcoin L1 security, including all four properties needed for its security:

• Validity: Every Citrea batch generates a zero-knowledge proof that verifies all inputs, computation, and outputs, inscribed on Bitcoin for universal verification;
• Data Availability: Citrea proofs include state differences inscribed in Bitcoin, allowing anyone to reconstruct the full rollup state directly from Bitcoin blocks;
• Censorship Resistance: Transactions can be forced on-chain via inscription-like envelopes, and Citrea’s circuit guarantees their inclusion in the next batch;
• Re-org Resistance: Citrea ties each rollup block to a recent finalized Bitcoin block hash, making re-orgs impossible without re-orging Bitcoin itself.

Citrea Proof Generation: Citrea protocol produces batch proofs that validate execution and blockspace for each transaction batch, and light client proofs that recursively aggregate them into a single proof of the entire rollup history. This ensures both full and light nodes can verify state transitions trustlessly with only Bitcoin data, delivering scalability with Bitcoin-level security.
