Ink is an Ethereum L2 that aims to become the complete DeFi hub for the Optimism Superchain ecosystem. Being a part of Optimism Superchain, it offers all the same advantages that other chain members of the ecosystem do:  interoperability among other L2 chains built via OP Stack, as well as low-cost and high-speed transactions. 

What’s more, being founded and fully backed by the same team that developed Kraken, a CEX that has over $700M in daily trading volume, and it integrates the existing Kraken’s infrastructure to even further enhance the user's on-chain experience. It aims to build a unified way for users to enter the crypto space with fiat money (via Kraken exchange) and then move to DeFi.

At the same time, the Ink crypto network aims to extend support for Web3 builders by leveraging the team’s prolonged experience in Web3 building. It provides developers with rich documentation, guidance, onboarding social influence, and even financial support, using the rich resources of the Kraken exchange. 

As of April 2025, a few months after launch, the Ink L2 chain possesses only $3.38M in TVL, while its ecosystem includes around 11 various dApps. However, considering the success of another CEX-owned L2 chain, Base chain, such a turn of events may change soon.
