Lumia is the world’s first next-gen modular L2 designed to provide deep liquidity, unmatched capital efficiency, and essential infrastructure for the future of DeFi and specifically Real-World Assets (RWAs) using Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN).
On February 26, 2024, Orion was rebranded to Lumia, introducing a new era of the liquidity layers. In 2020, Orion (previous name of Lumia) successfully raised $7.8M from its funding rounds.
On July 18, 2024, at 12:00 UTC, the Lumia project started its Node Sale with a $50M fundraising goal to revolutionize data availability and on-chain liquidity.

Orion Protocol
Previously, Lumia was named Orion Protocol. The token has shown a great ROI performance (+1,454%).
On February 2, 2023, the Orion Protocol was exploited on Ethereum and the BNB Chain. The attack was caused by a reentrancy vulnerability in the swap function of the contract, which resulted in an asset loss of almost $3 million, i.e., $191,030 on BSC and $2,836,206 on the Ethereum Chain.
On February 26, 2024, the Orion Protocol was renamed to Lumia.
What is Lumia Layer 2?
Lumia is the first next-gen, ultra capital efficient, hyper-liquid Restake Layer 2 Roll-Up on EigenLayer utilizing cutting-edge tech stack: PolygonCDK, NearDA and private DAC, Polygon AggLayer, Account Abstraction, and more, thanks to joint co-development efforts between GatewayFM (RaaS) and Lumia's tech team.
Lumia will boast its own custom private Data Availability Committee (DAC), its own liquidity network (a.k.a Lumia Stream), decentralized sequencers, fast finality, and validity proofs for a secure and decentralized Web3 experience. Offering unprecedented DeFi strategies, thanks to the co-development of an off-chain AI model with Lumia’s partners over at Allora Network, supported by zkML-Adapters running on Eigen AVS services, Lumia brings the best cross-chain and most liquid opportunities to Web3.
What is EigenLayer?
EigenLayer is a trust restaking protocol that aims to create a trust-minimized marketplace for blockchain infrastructure services. It serves as a middleware layer connecting node operators (validators) on Ethereum with infrastructure providers who require secure and reliable services without running their nodes.
📐 Lumia Layer 2 Architecture
Lumia L2 is a state-of-the-art Layer 2 blockchain platform that leverages the power of cutting-edge technologies to deliver a fast, secure, and highly scalable decentralized ecosystem. The architecture of Lumia L2 is designed to maximize capital efficiency, liquidity, and interoperability while providing a seamless user experience.
At the core of Lumia L2's architecture lies the Polygon CDK (Chain Development Kit), which enables the creation of custom blockchain networks tailored to specific use cases. The Polygon CDK allows Lumia L2 to incorporate various execution environments, such as Polygon ID and Polygon Miden, providing developers with the flexibility to build and deploy a wide range of decentralized applications (dApps).
⛓️ Lumia HyperNodes
HyperNodes play a crucial role in Lumia's liquidity ecosystem. They provide the licenses for the operation rights of virtual Lumia machines. Additionally, they supply the licenses that can be used to delegate to DAC and DNLP node operators.
🌊 Lumia Stream
One of the key components of Lumia L2 is the Lumia Stream, a native liquidity module that aggregates liquidity from both centralized exchanges (CEXs) and decentralized exchanges (DEXs). This unified liquidity pool enables developers to focus on building innovative dApps without worrying about attracting sufficient liquidity. Lumia Stream ensures that users have access to deep liquidity across various assets, enhancing the overall trading experience and facilitating efficient market-making.
💎 Validium
Validium is a scaling solution that leverages validity proofs to ensure the integrity of state transitions while storing transaction data off-chain. Unlike rollups, validium does not store transaction data on the Ethereum network, leading to reduced gas fees and improved scalability.
Lumia L2's Zero-Knowledge Validium Lumia L2's Polygon CDK validium is a zero-knowledge validium (zkValidium) that utilizes the Polygon zkEVM's off-chain prover to generate zero-knowledge proofs. These proofs are then published as validity proofs, adding a layer of trustlessness to the validium configuration.

💸 On July 18, 2024, at 12:00 UTC, Lumia’s Node Sale was started. HyperNodes have a capped supply of 50,000 units, initially priced at 1,000 USDT per node. The price increases incrementally after every 100 nodes sold, with the first 10,000 nodes remaining at the base price. Subsequent price tiers will rise for every 5,000 nodes sold, encouraging early participation.
